             The Bay of Vyborg
          Front was strategically
          the most important. It is
          evident that a swift break-
          through in the Coastal
          Group sectors would
          have had the most direct
          consequences to the de-
          fender. The basic setting
          to protect southern Fin-
          land would have been
          demolished. The Karelian
          Isthmus Army still de-
          fending would have been
          outflanked. In this respect
          the perseverance of the
          Coastal Group was a true
question of life and death Vyborg Bay Front at the end of the Winter War, 13th March 1940.
          to the Finnish Army. On
the basis of the analysis on
the situation at the front in
          this sector, the delaying of
the attacker on the Bay of
Vyborg at the end of the
          war was not possible un-
          til the expected relief by
          thaw would have rendered
          roads impassable.
