1959 End of rebellion in Green
Mountain:
Throughout 1958, the rebels laid at
least 120 anti-tanks mines and about
80% of these damaged vehicles. M6
mines were also laid and one report-
ed incident killed five causalities.
The other tactics that were used by
the rebels is to attack at night and
withdrew under the cover of fire and
darkness.
The British replied to that by us-
ing air power of RAF. In December
1958, for example, four Venoms of 8
squadron RAF flew from their base
at Sharjah, 94 sorties dropping rock-
ets, and using 20 mm guns at rebels
in Green Mountain.
There were though 3-4 RAF plains
that were hit by rebels using their
guns collectively shooting at the plain from their caves in the mountain.
