          Volunteering
At the time of the crisis, thousands of UAE citizens of all ages including school
and university students and employees, as well as UAE women volunteered to provide
first aid to Kuwaitis. Also, Kuwaitis living in the UAE had undergone training within
the UAE. Across the UAE, training centers received significant numbers of Kuwaitis
for military training programs, and the legitimate Kuwaiti government, represented by
the Kuwaiti Minister of Defense, attended the graduation ceremonies. This shows the
honorable role played by the UAE People in this initiative, and the founding leader was
proud of his volunteering sons. Sheikh Zayed delivered a speech, which was engraved
in the hearts of volunteers, urging these volunteers to exert all efforts to preserve the
dignity of the nation and saying that decent life without a home was without use.

          Military Involvement
From the first day of the crisis, the UAE sent a battlegroup, which was reinforced by a
UAE infantry company previously deployed as part of Al Jazeera Shield Forces in Hafr
Al Baten. Thus, the UAE participated with a battalion (+) which was attached with GCC
                        th
forces to the 10 Saudi Mechanized Brigade in the Eastern Sector under the command
of the joint forces. In the first days, this brigade managed to occupy the front line in the
          land war.
