- The participating battlegroup structure in Operation Desert Storm: consisted of an
infantry battalion+.
- Deployment Area: Ras Meshab, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and advanced by stages
untill entering the City of Kuwait.
Casualties:
- This battle caused eight dead and twenty one wounded.
Prisoners of War
- The UAE Battlegroup captured 1203 officers and personnel from the enemy forces.
Post-Liberation
- Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan (May God Rest his Soul in Peace) was the first president to
visit Kuwait after liberation.
Phase (3)
- “Operation Desert Farewell” phase from March 3 1991 to June 1992.

- Participant force structure: Three battalions participated rotationally.
- Deployment Area: the UAE Forces (Phase 3) were first deployed at Sabhan Area in
the Air Defense Camp of the Kuwaiti Forces and then moved toward Al Salmi area
on the Kuwaiti-Iraqi border.
The participant military force accomplished a series of missions and tasks including:
- Removing mines and unexploded bombs from residential areas.
- Protecting the UAE Embassy to the State of Kuwait.
- Distributing food and services, and providing assistance to the Kuwaiti People.
