in Europe: The states of the Warsaw Pact and the Federal Republic of Germany in their
mutual perception and rapprochement, 1966-1975, coordinated by the Institute of
History, University of Mannheim.
She actively participateS in the activities of the Conflict Studies Working Group and she
was a member of the Permamenent Secretariate of the Greater Black Sea Area Working
Group with the PfP Consortium.

Dr. Max SCHIAVON a travaillé trente-quatre ans au ministère de la Défense où il a
occupé des postes de manager en France et à l’étranger. Il a effectué des missions sur
les cinq continents. Son dernier emploi fut celui de directeur de la recherche au Service
Historique de la Défense à Vincennes.
Docteur en Histoire, il est spécialisé dans l’histoire contemporaine, en particulier celle de
la période allant de 1914 à 1954. Ses thèmes de recherches actuels portent sur les conflits
majeurs de l’entre-deux guerres (Rif, Ethiopie, guerre d’Espagne,…), sur le début de
la Seconde Guerre mondiale, sur les élites militaires et l’efficacité du commandement.
Il a publié de nombreux articles ainsi que huit livres, dont une biographie du général
Georges qui a reçu le prix L’épée et la plume 2010.
Il consacre désormais son temps à voyager pour exhumer des archives inédites, et ainsi
écrire de nouveaux livres.
Dr. Francesca SOMENZARI (Torino, 1980) si è laureata in Scienze politiche
(indirizzo-storico) nel 2004 (Università di Torino) ed è dal 2008, Dottore di Ricerca in
Storia Contemporanea. Attualmente collabora presso il Dipartimento di Studi Storici
dell’Università di Torino. Ha pubblicato le monografie I prigionieri tedeschi in mano
statunitense in Germania (1945-47), Zamorani, Torino, 2011 e 8 settembre 1943. Gli
Stati Uniti e i prigionieri italiani, Aracne, Roma (sarà pubblicato il 28 giugno 2013). Per
Il Mulino ha scritto L’Ufficio Informazioni Vaticano e i prigionieri di guerra tedeschi nel
dopoguerra in “Le Carte e la Storia. Rivista di storia delle istituzioni”, Bologna, 1/2009,
pp. 179-188.
