during the first World War
uring the first Wolrd War, the Carabinie-
ri corps received different weapons to per-
D form his tasks. Basically, because a moun-
ted corps, every Carabiniere had one revolver or
small gun and a musket. In reality, the Italian Ar-
my (at the time Carabinieri were the first corps
of the Army) distributed different weapons along
the 50 years before the war. Since the end of the
XIX century, the Carabinieri received the revol-
ver Bodeo because of the need to have a small
arm really fast to use at the time.
During their patrolling in the cities and in
the countryside, they used the revolver together
with a musket or a carbine. So the Carabinieri
entered in the first World War with the the mus-
ket Carcano mod. 1891 and the revolver Bodeo.
Then very quickly they received and used differ-
ent small arms in the trenches and along the main
roads they patrolled in the rear area of operation
or in the cities and villages during the war.
